PostDoc Position Sep 13
Technische Universiteit Eindhoven
Netherlands, Eindhoven
Project
This
project aims at the development of novel catalytic pathways for
depolymerisation and upgrading of lignin towards value-added
low-molecular weight products. The focus will be on catalytic lignin
deoxygenation without the use of molecular hydrogen. The relationships
between the structure and origin of lignin feedstock and its reactivity
will also be investigated.
The project will
involve synthesis and characterization of new heterogeneous catalysts,
catalytic performance tests, detailed characterization and purification
of reaction products, evaluation of reactivity of different lignin
feedstocks. In addition to the main research project, the candidates are
expected to assist Ph.D. students within the group. Two open positions
are available for this project. A tight interaction between the
successful candidates as well as with other partners within the national
biomass conversion consortium is expected.
Profile
We
seek highly talented, motivated and enthusiastic candidates who
recently finished their PhD or will obtain their PhD degree soon in
Catalysis, Chemical Engineering or Chemistry. Experience in the field of
heterogeneous catalysis, lignin chemistry and catalyst synthesis is
highly appreciated. The abilities of the candidates should be evident
from her/his publication list. Outstanding practical and analytical
skills, initiative and creativity are expected. A successful candidate
should demonstrate good communication skills, fluency in English and the
ability to work in a multidisciplinary and multinational team.
Employment conditions
We
offer a challenging job for 1 years with the possibility for extension
in a dynamic and ambitious interdisciplinary team at the Department of
Chemical Engineering and Chemistry at Eindhoven University of Technology
within the national CatchBio program aiming at developing new processes
for catalytic valorization of biomass.
The
gross monthly salary of postdoctoral fellows is in accordance with the
Collective Labor Agreement of the Dutch Universities (CAO NU) and starts
with € 2919,=. Besides this the TU/e has holiday- and end-of the year
allowance, an excellent package of attractive benefits for employees, a
