Summary:
Applications are invited for a 36 month fixed-term graduate Research Associate, tenable from 1st November 2013 or as soon as possible thereafter to conduct research on smart polymers for the detection of bacteria. The programme is funded by the Wellcome Trust.
The work will involve synthesis of branched polymers using the RAFT technique, their further functionalization. A key part of the role will be to develop and validate robust chromatographic analytical techniques for the branched polymers. The successful applicant will work in a team alongside a biology post-doctoral fellow, a graduate research assistant as well as clinicians and scientists from the L.V. Prasad Institute, India. Therefore, the successful applicant will be able to demonstrate an aptitude for team work and will have a proven track record of hitting deadlines. A proven ability to write high quality scientific reports are an essential part of the post.
